The project is a 1,150,000-square-foot, 59-story, 359-unit cast-in-place condominium high-rise located a block west of Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. The Heritage is highlighted on the lower levels by 97,500 square feet of retail space and five parking levels for residents. Floors nine through 57 are residential units; the top two floors are mechanical penthouses. Work included complex fa莽ade restoration efforts. Four of the buildings existing on the site were built just after the Chicago Fire and are historically significant. The Wabash Avenue fa莽ades of these buildings were preserved by temporarily supporting them with a structural steel frame erected on caissons in the sidewalk area. When the new structure reached the ninth floor, the fa莽ades were attached to the structure, the frame was removed and the fa莽ades were restored to their appearance in 1920. The preserved fa莽ades are a historical landmark and required coordination with the City of Chicago Landmark Division to ensure that all work performed met specified historical criteria.
